I am so thankful that this word is finally cracking it's way out of the dark corners and people are seeing the light! It is about time that this is exposed and people are paying a "bit" of attention. This shit has been going on for so long, when you consider the phrase "Ponzi Scheme" was coined around the start of the 1900's. Named after the Italian immigrant Charles Ponzi and even been written about by Dickens in the mid-1800's, this type of scheming has been so prevalent in our country that I would venture to bet some people believe it's legit and ethical.
Hell, some say the government has been pulling the largest Ponzi scheme with the way Social Security is overseen and operating. We can't ignore the parallels...can we? Oh wait, we already do ignore things like this...and we like to also ignore that the government is already practicing "Corporate Socialism" that is unprecedented.
I don't count on any form of Social Security and I can't believe how many people talk about that reality and yet still push for no immediate action. They don't even delve further into it to get the facts straight. It constitutes for an average of 20% of the federal spending in a given year and it is forecast to have expenses exceeding revenue somewhere in the neighborhood of 2020. Less than 11 years away...we all know how fast 11 years can go!
We are no where near the end of seeing parasites like Madoff in the spotlight. I just pray that hard-working and just people don't pay the price. Too many already have and it's so gripping to see some people lose their entire life's savings trusting in a person who makes the promises of hope for a comfortable future. Who can wrong anyone for that type of aspiration?
I caution all to be wise and prudent when investing moving forward. It's obvious my trust has been completely shaken. I am sure I am not alone. I just hope this propels us all to really investigate, question, use thoughtful judgement when dealing with our personal and civic duties. It would be sad for us to become heavy skeptics, although not unwarranted. We need to learn from these things and make things better. We can't afford to go backwards and start burying our money in the backyard. We need to understand the true value of things and realize money and things are not the most important things in life. We need to start realize that we are to be stewards to others. And maybe we need to demand a new system for Social Security or be given the choice to opt out. I know how much I pay in each check...and to know that is not any kind of down payment on my future hurts a wee bit.
